DESCRIPTION:We hope you have a lovely 4th of July with your friends and family.  Thursday\, July 4\, 2024 would normally be the night for our monthly general membership meeting\, but we are cancelling our July meeting for this important holiday. \nWhy is the 4th of July so important?  July 4th is the anniversary of American Independence Day – the independence from British rule.  It marks the day the Declaration of Independence was adopted (July 4\, 1776) and the United States officially became its own nation.  The 4th of July holiday is not just a time to get together with friends\, family and have a barbeque\, it is a day to celebrate and remember that men died so that we could have a free country.  American Revolutionary soldiers fought in the snow with no shoes\, they left their homes and families\, and in fact George Washington\, the Father of Our Country\, lived away from his family and home for 8 years. \nThese men fought\, many died\, many were wounded\, they left their wives and children at home alone in a time when it was dangerous to be home alone without a man to defend the home.  When they fought against the British they risked their lives\, because they could be charged with treason against the British Government.  The soldiers risked absolutely everything to free this country and we owe it to them to be good stewards of this land. \nWe should vote in every single election and never fail to do so.\nWork as election volunteers\, if at all possible.\nRegister citizens to vote.\nWork to ensure non-citizens do not vote.\nPray for America. \n

DESCRIPTION:Chico Evening Republican Women – GSRW will be holding the regular General Membership meeting at La Fiesta Mexican Bar & Grill on Thursday\, October 5\, 2023 at 6:00 PM.  At 6:30 PM our speaker will be famed meteorologist Anthony Watts\, who will be joining us on Zoom.  We will be presenting the Zoom using a 65″ screen television at the restaurant.  Registration is required if you plan to view the meeting on Zoom\, while our meeting will be held in person.   << Register here >>  \nWatts has been in the weather business both in front of\, and behind the camera as an on-air television meteorologist since 1978\, notably at KHSL-TV in Chico\, and currently does daily radio forecasts on KPAY.
