The following is a letter written to the Chico ER by CERW member Loretta Torres regarding the attempted assassination of President Trump.
Dear Editor: 7/14/2024
I write this letter just a few hours after the failed attempted assassination of President Trump! I fully expect soon many of the liberals will start to scream: “assault rifles must be banned!” All law-abiding citizens are guaranteed by our Constitution to “keep and bear arms! Rifles are included!”
The second amendment was created by our founders to prevent an armed government from taking over! The rifle used was legally purchased by the father of this 20-year-old!
A few days ago, I saw a taped interview with Michael Moore. His vitriol and hatred for Trump was palpable. So much so, that I actually told my family (the night before) I felt that President Trump would be killed.
Progressives don’t like the policies of Trump. His policies have meant lower prices for vital food and fuel for us middle class citizens. The liberal democrats have tried in vain to use lawsuits and hate speech to demonize Trump, even when he was president.
It’s time for all Americans to listen carefully to every candidate for any office and weigh those ideas and peacefully go to the polls in November and vote for the best people to lead our country!
