Chico Evening Republican Women held our 3rd annual Christmas Cookie Exchange at the December 5, 2024 general membership meeting, which took place at La Fiesta Mexican Bar & Grill on Fair Street in Chico. The group began decorating and preparing for the meeting at 5:00 PM by setting up a large table with a Christmas table cloth running down the center of the room.
The meeting began at 6:00 PM with a Prayer, Flag Salute, and announcements, then the group talked politics and had a nice dinner and drinks until 6:30. CERW President Sherry Gillis held an election with a ballot handed out to all of the members, in which they voted for 3 Vice Presidents for the club. We were incredibly pleased and excited to welcome in newly elected 1st Vice President Gina Bax, 2nd Vice President Bella Fishman, and 3rd Vice President Sandy Granicher.

With the election completed, the group began the cookie exchange. There were hundreds of cookies and candies on the table, so each person was welcome to come up and get 5 cookies. We had 3 rounds in which attendees could pick 5 cookies, but on the 3rd round the group were advised that they needed to leave no cookie on the table! Christmas music played in the background, but at the end of the evening we put on YMCA and the group danced, skipped, and frolicked around the cookie table doing the dance popularized by President Trump.
It truly was a fun, relaxing, sugar-filled evening that capped off a year of intense work by Chico Evening Republican Women. The Board of Directors want our club to know that we are extremely proud of all you did in 2024 to help elect good leadership for Chico, California, to Congress, and to help get President Trump back into the White House. You really outdid yourselves this year, and we are grateful, ladies!
